Is Klaviyo HIPAA compliant? Usually not for this.

Klaviyo is the default email tool for DTC brands, so many telehealth founders start there. The problem is that it does not offer a Business Associate Agreement.

If your emails or texts draw on health information, you need a platform that will sign one.

The short answer

Klaviyo does not offer a BAA. Without one, a HIPAA-covered organization, or a brand covered through its clinical partners, should not send protected health information through it. That rules out most of what makes telehealth lifecycle valuable: intake follow-up, refill reminders, and treatment-based messaging.

For a top-of-funnel newsletter with no health data at all, such as general wellness content to people who have not started an intake. The moment a message depends on what someone was treated for, it belongs in a covered platform.
